In June 2026, PERKESO (SOCSO) rolled out one of the biggest expansions to Malaysia's social security safety net in years: the Non-Work Accident Scheme (SKBBK), better known as Lindung 24 Jam. If you run payroll for a Malaysian company, it changes what you contribute and what shows up on every payslip. Here's the plain-English version.

What is Lindung 24 Jam (SKBBK)?

PERKESO's long-standing Employment Injury Scheme only covers accidents that happen at work or on the commute to and from work. That leaves a gap: an accident at home, during a weekend football match, or while running personal errands isn't covered.

Lindung 24 Jam closes that gap. SKBBK — Skim Kemalangan Bukan Bencana Kerja, the Non-Work-Related Accident Scheme — extends PERKESO protection to a full 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including accidents outside working hours that have nothing to do with the job.

When does it start?

The scheme takes effect from 1 June 2026. From that month's payroll onward, the contribution applies to enrolled employees.

Who is covered?

  • Employees already registered under SOCSO — the scheme builds on your existing PERKESO coverage.
  • Foreign workers — covered as well, so employers with foreign staff should make sure they're enrolled.

What changes on the payslip?

Lindung 24 Jam adds a small, separate PERKESO contribution on top of your usual SOCSO contribution. It's collected and remitted together with SOCSO, but it appears as its own line on the payslip — typically labelled "SKBBK (Lindung 24 Jam)" — so both employees and auditors can see exactly what was deducted and why.

What employers need to do

  • Enrol eligible employees in the scheme.
  • Start the additional contribution from the June 2026 cycle.
  • Show it clearly on payslips as a separate SKBBK / Lindung 24 Jam line.
  • Remit it to PERKESO alongside your normal SOCSO payment, by the 15th of the following month.

Miss any of these and you risk under-remitting PERKESO — the kind of gap that surfaces awkwardly during an audit.

How Gajee handles it for you

You don't need to redo your payroll math. In Gajee.co:

  • Flag each eligible employee as enrolled in SKBBK / Lindung 24 Jam on their profile — foreign workers are enrolled automatically.
  • From June 2026, every payroll run calculates the extra contribution automatically and folds it into the PERKESO total for remittance.
  • The payslip shows a dedicated "SKBBK (Lindung 24 Jam)" line, so your team always sees an accurate, itemised breakdown.

No spreadsheets, no manual rate lookups, no missed lines — the new coverage just works, from the first June payslip.
